TEXOMA's
DEFENSIVE STRATEGIES
PROGRAM (TDSP)
for
Men & Women

It's a tough world out there, and it is getting tougher!
But, you shouldn't cower inside your home afraid to go out because of it!
Neither should you be a walking target either...

In the TDSP, Besides learning how to defend yourself, we also examine
how to avoid becoming a victim of
a violent crime and also show you
some steps that you can take to learn to defend yourself if you are assaulted.

The TDSP sessions are geared up for adults groups ,18 years of age and up.

FOR THE WOMEN:
Did you know...
  • Rape is the most under-reported crime , with 84% of the victims never reporting the crime.
  • One American is forcibly raped every 6 minutes.
  • Women ages 16-24 are at the highest risk of being sexually assaulted, four times that of all women.
  • Most rapists are 15-24 years old.
  • More than 90% of all rapes occur in the same race and socio-economic class.
  • 84% of female rape victims knew their rapist.
  • More than 60% of all rapes occur in a person's home.
  • More than 50% of acquaintance rapes occurred in the man's car or home.

That you can defend yourself...

  • Victims of sexual abuse sustained an increase amount of physical injury if they pleaded, cried or tried reasoning.
  • Approximately 50% of women escape attempted sexual assaults if they yell.
  • Approximately 85% of women escape attempted sexual assaults if they vigorously and quickly resist physically.

As you read above, violence is very real...

It’s easy to dismiss the stories of attacks against women and say that it would never happen to you, but it can happen to you.

Every day, women are attacked who said it would never happen to them. All women are vulnerable and all women are at risk.

Ignoring the possibilities that you could be assaulted won’t change the fact that you could be, in short- the chances are stacked

high in favor of it.

It's easy to ignore the stories on the news of women being attacked because these stories are scary! But instead of ignoring

the facts, imagine how empowering it would be to feel strong, confident and capable of defending yourself against an attacker!

You shouldn't cower inside your home afraid to go out but neither should you be a walking target either...

In TDSP, we will show you how to avoid becoming a victim of a violent crime and it will also teach you the steps you can take to learn to defend yourself if you are assaulted.

FOR THE GUYS:

Hey, we all know the guys think (and sometimes 'know')
they can defend themselves just fine, because, well...
they are tough guys, right?

Wrong!

Without a good basic knowledge of what to expect, how to act when and how to counter an attack it the event you are assaulted,
depends mainly if you can outwit the attacker, on what you know as to the conditions of the assault and how you use that knowledge skill to come out alive.

For a good idea of the chances a guy may be involved in a violent event ( whether- life or limb), we submit here some stats found
on the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program website
(link to site):

  • The estimated number of violent crime offenses in 2005 was 1,390,695, an increase of 2.3 percent over the 2004 estimate. The estimated number of property crimes in 2005 was 10,166,159, a 1.5-percent decrease over the 2004 estimate(still over 10,000,000).
  • The rate for the estimated number of violent crimes was 469.2 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2005, an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the 2004 figure. The property crime rate for 2005 (3,429.8 offenses per 100,000 inhabitants) was down 2.4 percent from the prior year's rate.
  • Of all violent crime in 2005, the offense of robbery had the largest increase, 3.9 percent, compared with the 2004 number. All violent crimes increased with the exception of forcible rape, which had a 1.2-percent decrease.
  • Murder decreased 15.0 percent in 2005 compared with data from 10 years ago (1996). In this same time period, robbery offenses decreased 22.1 percent.
  • All violent crimes rates increased in 2005 with the exception of the rate for forcible rape (31.7 per 100,000), which declined 2.1 percent compared with the 2004 data.
  • The murder rate was 5.6 offenses per 100,000 inhabitants in 2005, a 2.4-percent increase compared with the rate for 2004.
  • The 0.5-percent increase in burglary offenses was the only property crime to increase in 2005 compared with the prior year data.
